Real Time Boulder Premiere

Real Time

Josh Berman and the Level 1 Productions (L1P) crew hosted the premiere of Real Time this past weekend at the Boulder Theater. The night started off with the usual autograph session in the lobby and as an added touch there was a DJ on stage spinning some beats to get the crowd pumped. When the time came for the giveaways to start Digi Dave of Freeskier really got the crowd going as the MC for the evening. Sitting on the stage was a long cannon like contraption dubbed “The Rain Maker” and everyone was buzzing about the $1000 cash toss but that plan was nixed, prob because of some liability issues. Although there was no cash toss, the cannon was put to use firing schwag all over the theater, they could even hit the upper balcony. There was a barrage of free stuff flying though the air, truly a sight to see. After all of the excitement of the giveaways it was time to watch some skiing, first PK Hunder’s segment from Magic Moves was shown, then the trailer for an online movie available from Jiberish, next was the trailer for Freeskier’s Road Trip Challenge (it looks hilarious), finally it was time for “Real Time”.

The entire concept of the movie deals with time, the movie was laid out in the order it was shot, and the intro and transitions had a calender theme. I thought the simple quick transitions between segments were welcome change from the Rube Goldberg transitions in “Long Story Short” (last years offering from L1P). The movie has some of the best urban segments I have ever seen. Thanks to the blizzards that rolled through Denver last year they were able to slide some sick rails. The backcountry riding was very well done from booters, cliffs to face shots of pow. Also included was a pretty interesting back country run in with a snowboard crew and Steele Spence has a scary moment that brings some tense moments to the movie. All of the park footage was towards the end of the season, hence towards the end of the movie as well. The crew killed all of the springtime park shoots; Keystone, Copper, Echo and Eclipse which is not even a resort yet. Level 1 Productions keeps improving on their films every year and Real Time is no exception. We’ll see how Real Time stacks up to the competition as the movie tours come through Denver, up next Seven Sunny Days by Matchstick Productions.
