After hearing about Echo Mountain from every different source of media in Denver I decided it was time to see what all the noise is about (If you don’t know, Echo Mountain is a ski hill that is all terrain park located in Evergreen, Colorado). I decided to sleep in and make it a late start because it would take no time at all to make it to Echo, because they are only 35 miles from Denver. When I arrived at the mountain the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also the lodge is pretty cool; there are a bunch of microwaves to heat up any of the frozen entrées for sale. There is also an area with some couches to relax and play games on the Xbox 360 with HDTV.

Echo Mountain has only one lift with 700 vertical feet, but that’s all you need when the whole mountain is packed with park features, even one of the short catwalks from the lift is full of rollers. There are rails of all different sizes everywhere, great for anyone from beginners to park rats. The jumps were mostly on the smaller side (approx 4-10ft gaps) with a couple of exceptions. I thought the jumps has alot of vertical pop to them, this is neither a pro or con, but it took a minute to get used to. I was sad to see that there was no pipe but there was plenty of other stuff to keep me and occupied. There was some unused space on the mountain that could be filled with something. I would like to see more creative features like step ups, hips and wallrides maybe in some of the unused space. Overall I liked the mountain and will definitely go back for more.

I would recommend checking out Echo for yourself and here are a few good reasons why: it is very close to Denver, it has a cool lodge with a friendly atmosphere, and the tickets are only $25/weekdays $35/weekends.

Thanks for the write-up. I’ve heard a lot about it too but didn’t want to waste my time going up there if it was wack. Sounds cool, I’ll have to check it out.
