Well the story is a little late but here goes, last weekend I made the trek to Aspen to see what was going down at “The Meeting” and check out a couple of ski movies. First of all Aspen is a really cool town and the Wheeler Opera House is amazing. I arrived in town just in time to see the movies, after I gave away my extra tickets I entered the theater to see the bar area was full of pros and industry people mingling before the shows and I went aroundchecking out the sponsors booths. D&E Ski and Snowboard sponsored the showings and gave everyone at the show a free D&E shirt, which was cool because I love free stuff. A bell rang and everyone moved upstairs to the theater like kids heading to class.

First up was Show & Prove from The Bigger Picture, Tanner Hall and CR Johnson came out on stage to introduce their movie and Seth Morrison was introduced as well. The movie’s old timey into was fitting for the Wheeler and then the story began… this movie was nothing like any other ski movie I have seen this year and I liked that very much. It is the story of Tanner and CR’s 05/06 season from begging to end, including CR’s unfortunate head injury that left him in a coma and his recovery. It is not all drama, there is a lot of sick skiing by some of the top pros. Show & Prove has a good balance of narration and skiing, it is a really well done film and I’m glad I saw it.

Poor Boyz Production’s SKI PORN was a total 180 and Johnny Decesare acknowledged that during his introduction of the movie. A bunch of skiers appearing in the movie accompanied Johnny on stage like Sammy Carlson, Pete Olenick (Aspen local), Simon Dumont and Steele Spence. Ski Porn is unadulterated balls to the wall skiing, it was accomplished with short but stylish 70’s-ish intros and no narration (if I remember correctly). The movie was great, and it speaks for its self, so just go see it and be amazed.
